How to Delete Undeletable Folder in Windows 10

Hi all and a happy new year!

I need to make some certain folders that have already been created undeleteable on an SBS Server in a shared drive, I have tried looking for a resolution online but I'm not having much luck...

if anyone has any ideas, could possibly just a case of modifying the permissions on the folder but I didn't think you could set it where you could modify but not delete??

Thanks

go to the security tab of the folder, go to advanced, change permissions, select the user/group you want to change and then click edit. tick deny delete and delete sub folders and files. Should have the desired effect you want. make sure that you tick the box to propergate the changes to the child objects, otherwise it will only apply to that folder and not the folders and files below it (see screenshot).

ALL folders / files HAVE to be able to be deleted

but the trick is to keep WHO can do the deed to a minimum

so generally the DENY option could be checked, and associated to the relevant groups, but permissions are worked out as a resultant of local v network

so setting it to deny to [for example] sales is not necessarily going to stop them deleting if they log on locally ? and vice versa

have you created a TEST folder first ? then try adding a user account - I would suggest a TEST USER too - and see if that account is able to SEE folder, then if they can ACCESS it to READ contents then if they can OPEN any files in there

then try and delete items in the TEST folder too, going from a .txt file you created, to trying to delete the folder

remembering to test both from a remote and local perspective

just a little light reading to try and help

Another point to consider would be enabling previous versions.

That way if somehow they get deleted they can be restored quickly without going to your backups
